Build pitched roof houses | What exactly is a pitched roof?

The main feature of a shed roof is the sloping roof surface. This eliminates the need for time-consuming cutting of pointed gables, hips and other complicated roof elements. This makes this roof construction particularly economical to carry out. The more unusual it becomes, such as a staggered, cantilevered or interrupted single-pitch roof, the more expensive it becomes to build such a roof.

House with a pitched roof and its advantages

The single-pitch roof is a relatively simple roof form that has a positive effect on construction costs. Another advantage of the gable roof concerns the upper floor. The living space under the gable roof is not limited at all, as there is only one sloping wall is, or none, if the pitched roof consists of a lattice structure above the attic. It’s above usually the same living space as the ground floor. The rooms on the upper floor can therefore be divided freely and the rooms can be illuminated with traditional windows and/or skylights. If you do not want to make a ceiling, the interior on the second floor acquires a loft character.

Pitched roof buildings are a good choice, especially if you have a smaller property. The low slope of the roof on the upper floor means that a significant amount of living space is gained. At the same time, these pitched roof houses adapt very well to the urban environment and represent modern house construction today.

Gable roofs offer the best options for an interesting facade design

The so-called “high wall” allows for original facade compositions, allowing for example the entire upper floor to be highlighted in colour. Glass or window surfaces also look very attractive in houses with sloping roofs and make them a real eye-catcher. Furthermore, in very large residential complexes, interrupted gable roofs are used because they allow the building to be divided into several areas, for example by cutting out a balcony.

Pitched roof as optimal support surface for photovoltaics

The sloping roof surface is perfect for harnessing solar energy in the form of solar panels. Of course, this depends on the direction in which the roof was built. The best conditions for one Solar system You have it if the sloping roof of your house is oriented towards the sunny side.
